G. Sollinger. Bjorkstadius’ Wings: Flying Attempts in Sweden in the 17th Century
The priest and mathematician Bjorkstadius was – in all likelihood – the first Swede to carry out flights heavier-than-air using a fixed wing apparatus. The author places Bjorkstadius in a wider historical framework, looking both at the development of the idea of flight from ancient days forward as well as at practical flying attempts that had taken place before the seventeenth century.
